MY HEART IS IN THE EAST (5/20 at 8pm ET)
Israel today is the center of Mizrahi and Sephardic Jews,
due to their mass immigrationfrom Muslim countries
during the 20th century. The session will emphasis the
differences and similarities among these large Jewish
groups, exploring their history, customs and culture in
their countries of origin and in Israel.
JEWISH VS. ISRAELI (5/27 at 8pm ET)
Following a screening of the short film “Tateh” about a
secular kibbutznik who becomes a Breslover Hasid.this
session will discuss the historic tensions between these
identities and their merging in recent years.
FEMINISRAEL (6/3 at 8pm ET)
This session will discuss the role of women in Israeli
society today by learning about leading Israeli female
activists. They will tell different stories from their diverse
social backgrounds whichrepresent unique approaches
to contemporary feminism.
#BLACKLIVESMATTERS_IL (6/10 at 8pm ET)
Following a screening of the short film “Cleaning Time”
about Ethiopian Israelis this session will discuss the
exodus of Ethiopian Jews, their challenging integration into
Israel within the general context of Israeli multiculturalism.
